Diving in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Diving has become an internationally recognised sport and a part of the Olympic Games. It is very popular in the places where swimming is practised to a great extent. Every dive trip promises some sort of new discoveries and exploration. For quiet a long time the Andaman Islands remained inaccessible but now one can have an easy reach on them via air connections. Diving in Andaman boasts of giving a lifetime experience to the tourists. The coastal water surrounding these islands is the proud owner of one of the richest coral reef eco system in the world. The major highlight of the place is that the coral reefs and underwater formations have not been damaged by the human activities.

Havelock Island
Havelock is a mesmerising tropical island. The place proves to be very much conducive for easy and relaxing dives in the calm and protected waters where there are lot of rock formations waiting to be explored. There are also great chances for night divings. Some of the key dive sites are as follows:

The Wall- This dive site is suitable for both the beginners as well as advanced divers since it is less prone to currents. This site is located virtually outside the front door on the fringe of the access channel for ferries.

Barracuda City – This diving site has a sloping bottom with rocks and some coral. There is a large number of under activity that one can engage oneself into it. Sea turtles can be spotted here in addition to the coral fishes, jackfish, trigger-fish and surgeon fish etc. The site is a bit prone to currents therefore it is mostly recommended for the advanced divers and for some beginners who have some experience.

Aquarium – An entire whole range of marine life can be enjoyed here in this diving site. The area is also a popular fish breeding area. The dive is very relaxing due to minor currents and is suitable for beginners and advanced divers.

Lighthouse – This is an expansive dive site and is suitable for any kind of diving. It proves to be an excellent site for a night dive.

Mid-November to mid -May is considered to be the best season for diving.
