Ayurveda A synonym for magic
Ayurveda is the most ancient and traditional system of healing. It
basically deals with the therapeutic measures that relate to physical,
mental, social and spiritual harmony. The origin of this miraculous system
of healing can be traced back to more than 5000 years. This Science
of life gives emphasis on maintaining a fine balance with the
environment and interpersonal communication as it opines that diseases
results from disharmony between the person and the environment and therefore
a unique cure is required. In today's world the mantra of Ayurveda is
echoing everywhere as it gives us a break from the bitter tastes of the
allopathic medicines and promises relief without any side effects.
In short Ayurveda doesn't believe in the treatment of the affected parts
but the individual as a whole.
Elements of Ayurveda
Air, water, earth, fire and space are the basic five elements of which our
bodies are composed of. According to Ayurveda these five elements are seen
in the body in the form of three principal mind/body types known as doshas.
Dosha is a Sanskrit word meaning force or fault.
The doshas are found in all the matter and are made of different
combinations of the five elements. They are - Vata ( air), pitta ( fire),
and Kapha (water). These influence all the mechanisms of the body, brain and
soul. These doshas are responsible for co-ordinating, guiding and directing
all the structures and substances of the body.
