Taj Mahotsava - White Marble Comes Alive

During springs, the city of Agra bursts into colourful celebrations. For continuous 10 ten days you can warm up your eyes with Uttaer Pradesh's rich heritage of arts, crafts, culture, cuisine, dance and music - all this in the famous Taj Mahotsava. During the Mahotsava Agra becomes a wannabe destination to look for. The mesmerising Taj Mahal serves as the backdrop of this annually held festival.

The Non Stop Carnival
The Taj Mahotsava is organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism. Taj Mahotsav is indeed a fitting tribute to the legendary skills of mater craftsmen and exponents of art, music and cuisine. Not only this, it is also a gentle peep into the rich heritage and extraordinary legacies of this wonderful land. The festival is a platform that is culturally vibrant and brings together the finest Indian crafts and cultural nuances.

From folk music, shayari (poetry), classical dance performances, elephant and camel rides to games , the event is a celebration of traditional Indian art forms and crafts. The main events of this festival include classical dance performances by leading dance exponents and musical recitals by maestros, apart from display of various craft products and cultural shows. The Mahotsav is also the perfect time to click pictures of the Taj.

Food Festival
At the Mahotsav, don't forget to be a part of the Food Festival. Relish the exotic cuisine's and delicacies that are specially prepared by some very talented chefs with delicacies being prepared from the oldest exponents that were used in the past era. There is drama being portrayed like it was centuries ago in front of the rulers and royal family of the Mughal era also traditional handicrafts and art as that of carving on wood and metal is displayed.

The festivities commence with a spectacular procession inspired by Mughal splendour. Bedecked elephants and camels, drum beaters, folk artists and master craftsmen all help to recreate a visual delight reminiscent of the golden era of the Mughal Darbars.
