Day 01 Arrival in Delhi You'll
be received and assisted at the Delhi International Airport by our
reception team upon your arrival in the city. Thereafter you'll be
escorted to the hotel to relax and clarify your doubts if any. Day 02 Delhi The first thing offered will of course be the breakfast, yet the capital city offers you much more what with a choice of myriad charming destinations and is home to beautiful sites along with some of the best shopping areas like Janpath, Dilli Haat and Chandni Chowk, where you can shop till you drop, although a cliched statement but apt for the place. A Rickshaw ride through the winding roads of Chandni Chowk is the best way to get a feel of the place. Other lesser known markets are Naya Bazaar and Gadodial Market, which is a wholesale spice market. You may or may not feel exhausted but the markets will certainly not. In Delhi our itinerary includes the Humayun's Tomb, Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate, Jama Masjid, Jantar Mantar, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Qutab Minar Complex, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Lodhi Gardens etc. Day 03 Delhi - Mandawa We drive off to Mandawa in the morning en route visiting Mahensar. Mahensar is famous for its castle. Upon arrival in Mandawa you'll check in at your hotel. Our overnight stay is scheduled at Mandwa itself. Day 04 Mandawa Bikaner Situated in the Shekhawati Region, this small beautiful town is known for its forts and havelis such as Castle Malwa and there are several havelis like the Chokhani, Ladia, Saraf havelis, Binsidhar Newatia Haveli etc. which houses some beautiful ancient paintings. Now, we are headed towards Bikaner, while doing so, we also get to see Fatehpur, yet another merchant town of the Shekhavati region. Bikaner is at the distance of 180 km from Mandawa where we visit the Junagarh Fort, a royal museum that encompasses history of Bikaner. In the evening you can take a stroll through the busy market area of Bikaner city centre. Day 05 Bikaner Pokaran Jaisalmer We'll have a light breakfast to brace for the journey across the Thar desert and we reach Pokaran by the lunch time. Here we visit the 15th century fortress where the 3rd Mughal emperor, Akbar the Great, was born and we also take some time off to visit the bazaar in the middle of this village which is vivid with colours. After lunch we continue our onward journey to Jaisalmer and arrive by evening. Phew ... the journey was 330 km long and as you think of chugging towards the hotel, we are witness to yet another splendid spectacle ... the sunset over the desert. Our overnight stay is scheduled at a hotel in Jaisalmer itself. Day 06 Jaisalmer As
we set aside a day for the city of Jaisalmer, we cannot but be awed by
the sight of the commanding fort that is etched in yellow sandstone,
with all its awesome splendour dominating the city. The golden Jaisalmer
Fort looks like a lone soldier standing in front of the large backdrop
of Thar. It houses the entire township within its ramparts. The lanes
crisscross each other making a web of sorts which is filled with some
lovely havelis, three beautifully sculptured Jain Temples and five
interconnected palaces. The other attractions of the city are Manak
Chowk - the main marketplace outside the fort, Gadsisar Lake - a scenic
rain water lake, Tazia Tower, Nathmalji-ki-Haveli, Patwon -ki-Haveli
etc. We also visit the Jain temples inside the Sonar Kila. Our overnight
stay is scheduled at the hotel in Jaisalmer itself.Day 07 Jaisalmer Jodhpur Today, after breakfast, we set off for Jodhpur, which is 280 km away from Jaisalmer and reach there by early afternoon. After lunch, you'll get a chance to make your way through the fabulous spice market of Jodhpur. Jodhpur is a major tourist destination on the tourism map of the world and is located in the western Rajasthan. Pretty close to this fort is a white marble memorial called Jaswant Thada. This place also attracts many tourists. Next destination on our list is Umaid Bhawan Palace. There is a museum in the palace that has rarities, antiques and relics of the past. Converted into a heritage hotel now, the place affords visitors a chance to experience the ambience of the times gone by. Jour 08 Jodhpur Luni In the morning we drive off to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Mehrangarh Fort is a large fort located in the heart of the city. The fort is located in the heart of the city of Jodhpur. After completing our Jodhpur itinerary, we drive away to Luni where the Luni Fort and its surrounding areas are worth visiting. The fort has now been converted into a heritage hotel. It takes only an hour to reach Luni, the palace surrounded by rural Rajasthan and wildlife. After lunch we take you on a safari, the itinerary specially put together for you, to discover the wilds. Our overnight stay has been scheduled at Luni. Day 09 Luni Pushkar Ajmer Jaipur Today we'll drive across one of the most exciting and challenging landscapes, the Thar, to reach some of the most holy cities of the world, Pushkar and Ajmer. Pushkar is one of the most sacred places in the Hindu mythology. It houses the only Brahma Temple that exists. Now you get a chance to savour the local flavours before you get to wander through the local market. Now we'll head towards Ajmer, our next pious destination. We visit the Ajmer Sharif Dargah where Muslim pilgrims from all over India come during the annual Urs. We now move towards Jaipur, reaching there by late evening. Our overnight stay is scheduled here at the hotel. Day 10 Jaipur In the morning the first thing in the morning will be that we'll have our breakfast. The world knows Jaipur as Pink City of India, but not many know that only the older part of Jaipur retains that colour. For those, who are fascinated by the desert, can go for a camel, desert or jeep safari across seemingly unending expanse called the Thar. The evenings are an exact fit for boating in the Ramgarh Lake. As far as tourist attractions of the city are concerned, you'll find plenty. The prime destinations are the City Palace of Jaipur, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal. The other places that you'd not like to miss are Govind Devji Temple, Amber Fort where you can ride atop an elephant back and Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, here you'll get to see Jaivan, the world's largest canon on wheel and can also have an all encompassing view of Jaipur City and Amber fort from here. Ram Niwas Bagh is a sprawling lawn just outside the walled city and nestled within it is the Albert Hall which is a combination of English and North Indian architecture. This building has been very well taken care of and is in very good condition and has a very large and impressive collection of paintings, stone and metal sculptures. Moti Doongari, its literal meaning being 'pearl hill', is a replica of a scottish castle. It houses Ganesh Temple within which is frequented by most of the people of Jaipur and people from outside. Our overnight stay is scheduled at Jaipur itself. Day 11 Jaipur Fatehpur Sikri Agra 250km Leaving the Pink City Jaipur behind we reach Fatehpur Sikri by early afternoon. Your tour of this abandoned city starts which was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar and was the capital of Mughal empire only for some 10 years. This is a whole conglomeration of structures including monuments and temples. This conglomeration of structures has one remarkable trait that is evident all over the place is that the architectural style of all the buildings are uniform throughout. This complex also houses one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. Now we engage our four wheels to continue towards Agra where we reach by early evening. Continue towards Agra and reach Agra by early evening. As an unforgettable day nears its end, you check into the hotel to either relax there or roam in the local bazaar to experience the actual ebullience of the city of the Taj. Day 12 Agra Whenever
there is Agra in any tour itinerary, you brace yourself on that day to
see the declaration of love on the grandest possible scale yet. The
beauty in white stands resolutely and has been witness to many other
monuments in the nearby areas such as Agra Fort that is pretty close to
the Taj. The tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daullah is only a short drive away from
the Taj Mahal. It looks like a huge jewel box, decorated withgems and
precious stones. Your overnight stay is scheduled at Agra itself.Day 13 Agra Gwalior Orchha 219km Coming from Agra you may have a nagging feeling of saturation, you may feel that there is nothing more to see. Yet the city of Gwalior is resilient enough to show enough promise and it lives up to it. This city was the erstwhile stronghold of the Scindia Rulers. We reach Gwalior by early afternoon and after a little break we start off our tour. As we follow our itinerary while visiting the fort, Scindia Palace and the tombs of Ghaus Mohammed and Tansen, we also visit the Gurjari Mahal today housing an archaeological museum, Teli Ka Mandir and the Saas Bahu Ka Mandir. We are now headed towards Orchha, the grand city of olden times encompassing within itself the palaces and temples built by its Bundela Rulers. Our overnight stay is scheduled at Orchha. Day 14 Orchha Khajuraho 282 km In the 16th century, Orchha used to be a Bundela stronghold who decided to build their capital along the banks of river Betwa. Then there are Laxminarayan Temple and Raj Mahal, which have sonorous paintings on various secular and religious themes that seem almost alive. The fort complex of Orchha, has several enchanting structures such as Jehangir Mahal, Rai Parveen Mahal, Chaturbhuj Temple and many more. Feeling hungry? Have your lunch with us and thereafter we'll press the accelerator yet again towards Khajuraho which is about 182 km away and after reaching there the first thing that we'll do is to check in at the hotel. Freshen up as we have to attend a dance show which will try to summarize the cultural heritage of India, especially for you. Now is the time for you to take a break and go to sleep in the hotel while we work on your next day's itinerary. Day 15 Khajuraho Varanasi In the morning, we'll first treat you with a sumptuous breakfast, thereafter our guide takes you on a period journey that shows us the temples built during the 9th to the 11th centuries by the powerful dynasty of Chandela Rajputs. The building style of Khajuraho temples are a surprise of sorts for the connoisseur as the general building style of temples for that period used to be different. Each temple stands on an elevated platform, and the effect that the temple leaves on us is somewhat like a Himalayan peak. Your flight to Varanasi will take you to the holy city in utmost comfort as we make arrangements for you from among reputed chain of well known hotels depending upon your preference. So ... good night and sleep tight ... that is if you want to, otherwise you have the choice to explore the city life in the evening on your own or we may escort you also if you allow us to.. Day 16 Varanasi Delhi
It may be slightly discomforting but today we'll have to wake up early
in the morning as we'll take a boat ride along River Ganges to see the
morning rituals of the Hindus. We are also going to see the Kashi
Vishwanath Temple, Gyanvyapi kund and the mosque attached to it and
Benares Hindu University. We'll return to the hotel for breakfast and
later visit Sarnath the sacred Buddhist city. As the journey nears its
end, it normally happens that you grow attached to your fellow
travellers, but now it's time we prepare to bid adieu. Now it's time to
go to the airport as we head back to Delhi. You'll be treated in style
as we host a farewell dinner for you after which you'll be helped along
on your way to the international airport for your respective return
journeys. |
