Sariska is dominated by sharp cliffs and narrow valleys of the Aravallis
and is some 200 km from Delhi. The forests of Sariska are dry and deciduous.
Within the sanctuary there are ruins of medieval temples of Garh - Rajor
belonging to the 10th and 11th century. The sanctuary covers an area of 800
sq. km. It is a tiger reserve and you can see ungulates in large numbers and
the bird life is very good and varied. The area was declared a sanctuary in
1955 and became a National Park in 1979. The Sariska park is home to
numerous carnivores including Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal,
and Tiger . These feed on an abundance of prey species such as Sambar,
Chitel, Nilgai, Chausingha, Wild Boar and Langur.

The Sariska Palace was designed by a
French architect in 1892 and was built under the patronage of Maharaja Jai
Singh of Alwar. This luxurious heritage hotel is is an interesting melange
